This months inspiration is a unique color scheme that has been popping up everywhere this spring.  A bright green (Simply Chartreuse or New Leaf) paired with bold black & white patterns.  Think gingham, argyle, checks or stripes.  Really mix things up and enjoy the creative process! Cooking with Cricut Challenge #72

ANOTHER GREAT COOKING WITH CRICUT CHALLENGE!!

THEME-CHALLENGE: Grown-up Valentines theme.  

You must use a brad and the color black on your project. 

This challenge is hosted by three Cooking with Cricut Design Team members:  Kemma (that's me!), Dalis and Michelle !!




I was inspired to do something different for this card.  I had heard of tea bag folding in an iris folding class I took in December at my local library.  I was searching through some of my books and happened to find one showing how to make this design.  It involves taking little squares of paper and folding them up rather intricately and then putting them together to form a pattern.  I used George and Basic Shapes cartridge to cut out 8 2x2 pieces for the center design since I did not have a square punch that size, using the white side of the paper for half, and the design paper for the other half.  That is one of the neat things about having a Cricut, I can make a bunch of the same shape really quick and easy with it.

Cooking with Cricut Challenge #70

THEME-CHALLENGE:  Anything but a card must add Polka-Dots and the color yellow.   This challenge can be found at http://www.cookingwithcricut.com/


I decided to make a book mark for this challenge.  The sentiment looks like it didn't stamp well but actually its a Tim Holtz stamp, which tends to stamp with that distress look he is known for.  It looks better in person :)

Cricut Circle Weekly Challenge #50

I cut the kraft card stock at 4.25 x 11 and folded for a top fold card of 4.25 x 5.5.  Then I cut the cream cardstock at 4 x 5.25, embossed it and adhered it.  I used my Xyron Sticker maker to adhere the two layers of green.  I then folded each of the top petals of the flower in half and layered them with a very thin line of zig glue in the center and let dry.  Then I could fold up the top two layers, creating the dimensional effect.  I edged the petals with distress ink, one with rose and one with honey.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of the kraft and then trimmed it, eyeballing the final size leaving a nice edge all the way around.  Then I punched the edges with the corner chomper and distressed them with the tea dye.  I punched two holes in the bottom and tied a bow with string.  I adhered it with the ATG.

Cooking with Cricut Challenge #67 Something New

For this challenge I needed to use something new. The only crafty thing I got new was some ink blending foam pads (which I did use on this) but Katie got the Give a Hoot cartridge for Christmas so I borrowed that from her.

This card I made using a different type of fold.  To create this card, and so it will fit in the A2 envelope, cut your card base at 11x4.25 and then score it at the 2.75 and the 8.25 marks and it will fold nicely and meet in the middle.

Baby Bag

I made this bag for a baby's first birthday present.  What I am making for her present is a little cloth memory type game.  Each square has a dark gray background and then a colored square on top of it.  There are two of each color.  To add to the project, I made each colored square out of a different texture of fabric, fuzzy, stiff, soft, silky, etc.  I will post a photo of that when it is done too.  I liked the idea so much I have another baby and another soon to be here baby I am making these for as well.

Just got to love challenges, and I really like it when I can incorporate two into one card.  I really like how this one turned out. I had just gotten the new Ribbons and Rosettes Cricut Cart and had to find a way to use it.

My Creative Time's FIRST Design Team Call!

How exciting to be able to submit a project for My Creative Times' Design Team call!  At the bottom under my supply list is a quote from My Creative Times with the info.  It would be terrific to work with the great talent of Emma and her team.  I am having a lot of fun as a member of the Cooking with Cricut Design team, which is not a sentiment based stamp company.  They are really a great bunch of folks and I enjoy every moment. I would really appreciate an opportunity to design for My Creative Times.

There are so many different projects I would love to create to submit for this, so many choices on what to do.  I wish I had some of My Creative Time's stamps, there are several sets that interest me.  Since I don't have any, I thought I would find something I have that is close to the ones that My Creative Time's offers, and I have to say I do not have many that can even compare.  The one I chose, I think, is at least close, and thought it was really nicely themed with the card idea and layout I planned.  I hope you all like it!

I created the snowflake paper by embossing on white card stock, with white snowflakes randomly stamped all over.  Then I used several Ranger inks in shades of blue and inked the card stock.  I think it really turned out nicely.  I created my lovely snow lady with my Cricut Expression 2 machine.  I used my alcohol markers to put a subtle shading on the left side of the snow lady.  I distressed the hat and scarf and then added a little sparkle with the gelly roll pen.  She is raised with pop dots.  My sentiment is stamped and embossed in navy and then decorated with little dots around the edge with my white Galaxy marker.  I used a punch I had for the shape.  I added a ribbon with a knot and then used an old snowflake punch I had to make a few snowflakes, which I distressed with a faint color and then used small zots to pop them up.

And though I WISH I could have each and every one of you on my Design Team - that would be A LOT of members to keep track of (and I already have 3 boys to keep track of at home. Halloween door decoration

I made two versions of this project, not sure which one I like best.

 and here it is hanging on my front door!!

This one was made entirely with the Celebrate with Flourish Cricut Cartridge, the largest I could get it to fit on a 12x12 paper.  I tried to see if I could get it larger and use my 12x24 mat, but the design is pretty square so this was as large as I could really make it without changing the ratio.

I used mostly Bazzill Basics paper.  Decorated the words with my twinklette and atyouSpica markers, and used a white gel pen and my glittery gelly roll clear star pen.  I assembled the entire thing with my zig 2 way glue.  This is my new favorite glue!  I decorated the moon with Stampendous Shaved Ice.  It really looks more glittery in person than the photo can show.
