WOYWW 143

Lots of stuff going on this week in the workspace.  Went to an Iris Folding Card class at this public library Monday, results there are the green and purple cards on the edge.  Katie got a blue ribbon on her flower for the father daughter dance, which she gave to me instead of throwing away (why she didn't want it for her stash, I don't know) am starting a card design (my sticky note and blue card base sitting there) for my Cooking with Cricut Design Team project.  do you see what is there in the middle of my desk?  I got a few of the new Ranger Distress Markers!  I haven't used them yet.   I got some new stamps there stacked on the left side, and the box under my paper cutter is the box for Michael's graduation announcements that I have also begun work on.  Ooooh, I have to show you how they are coming together.  Here is the card closed:
I hope you can tell it's a grad hat. :)

And here is what it looks like open!  Since Michael is a graphic arts major, he is designing the inside with a fun poem I gave him and the details of the open house.  I found this idea on youtube and just ran with it.
I just love this idea, and surprisingly, Michael likes it too!  I am not yet happy with the tassel, that is going to need a few more prototypes.  I didnt really want to use a larger brad and the string just comes out from around the brad too much.  Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated, or if you just had fun looking, thanks for stopping by!!

Many thanks to Julia at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ for starting this wonderful project.

p.s. yes I know my post says Tuesday, but it's Wednesday where Julia lives and almost Wednesday here lol!  Close enough and my desk won't change between now and a few hours from now as I am going to bed!

Love the grad card, it's fabulous!! Not sure what to suggest to solve the tassle problem... perhaps tie of the tassle ends and only have one piece to go round the brad?

Great card!

The graduation card is so neat. Pinterest has DIY ways to make tassels. Then just tie the tassel onto the card with just one string.

The paper folding cards look like fun!

What a great idea and what a fabulous card. bet it looks ever so special when it gets the calligraphy inside.
Would using a finer thread help with the tassel, some crochet thread or something?
Thanks for calling to see me and thanks for putting your number, it so helps. Hugs, Neet xx #19

love the clever graduation card, you could try using stranded or perle cotton instead of string. Oh and well done to your son
I'm very envious of your little shelve unit with your ink pads etc in, did you make it?
